I just reinstalled XP, and my computer can't find its sound card now. And I don't know what card I have. Help!?

My computer was demolished by viruses, so I had Windows XP reinstalled. Everything is great, but I have no sound, and the computer doesn't even recognize the sound card. I don't know what cad I have and I'd rather not crack the case open to search. Is there some other way to identify what I have and resolve this issue?
