Will the AFL split the comp or have a final 10 format in 2012?

I'm sure the final 8 will be retained, but i always feel for the teams who miss the finals. Remembering back to the old VFL days, the 8 teams who missed the final 4 played in a knock out "night comp", at South Melbourne's lake oval. Cant imagine a night comp happening again these days, however a knock out comp, played as a "curtain raiser" before elimination finals, if viable or inventable, could be interesting ? These games would no doubt help swell ticket sales, with supporters having a last chance to see their teams in action,while also gaining a sniff of the finals atmosphere, at this business end of the year ! Imagine the experience and atmosphere for the young Suns team,playing their final quarter in one of these knockout finals,in front of a packed MCG, before a Geelong - Collingwood semi final game !
