Keep pursuing or quit?

there's this guy whom i've had a thing for since jr year in high school (we're 22 now). all we've done in the past is make out. he dated a girl for 3 yrs and she cheated on him so they broke up about a month ago. well friday we were hanging out in a group with some friends and ended up spending the night together and pretty much did everything but have . he's so sweet and told me how comfortable he feels around me and how much fun he has with me and how beautiful i am. but then he talked about his ex calling him and how he still loves her but can't forgive her for cheating on him. i'm glad he finally sees what i see how we're good together but i'm afraid he won't get over his ex! and it annoys me becuase he will call my best friend (they are strictly platonic friends trust me) to ask what she's doing even when he clearly knows we're always together! annoying! but he's honestly a good guy... should i continue to pursue him or let him come to me or give up or what??
